Effect of Salinity on Evaporation from Water Surface in Bench-Scale Testing

Freshwater and hypersaline lakes in arid semi-arid environments are crucial from agricultural, industrial, ecological perspectives. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect salinity on evaporation water surfaces. main achievement research is successful capture simulated climate–surface interactions prevalent Canadian Prairies using a custom-built bench-scale atmospheric simulator. Test results indicated that evaporative flux has large variation during spring (water/brine: 1452/764 10−4 g·s−1·m−2 613/230 × night) summer (1856/1187 day 1059/394 10−4g·s−1·m−2 night), small fall (1591/915 1790/1048 night). primary theoretical contribution rate distilled twice saturated brine. measured data for correlated well with mathematical estimates; scatter evenly distributed within one standard deviation equality line, whereas brine mostly plotted above line. newly developed 2:1 water–brine correlation found follow combination equations Monteith model best matching measurements.
